Deforestation in Tasmania (Pollution) - cache image

Off Australia, Tasmania has yet magnificent forests, an exceptional biodiversity and trees among the largest and oldest on the planet. Yet every day, the equivalent of 44 football fields disappear in smoke: the giant trees are felled and helicopters launch napalm bombs to burn the remaining trees and stumps. Once the ground cleaned, exotic trees are fast growing replanted. To prevent animals coming to eat these seedlings, a powerful nerve poison is widespread: endangered species like the Tasmanian devil die in great suffering. There is nothing left of the original biodiversity.
