The Solfatara is a volcanic crater near the town of Pozzuoli, west of Naples. Its name comes from the Latin terra Sulpher, "land of sulfur." He trained there are about 4000 years and its last eruption dates back to 1198, with probably a phreatic eruption. The Solfatara is a flat ground volcano ash and sulfur. The volcano has a sizeable postvolcannique consists principally of fumaroles. The diameter of the crater reached 770 meters. It is a part, with Vesuvius, the Champs Flegrei. The Romans thought that the Solfatara was entering Hell, because they had never seen anything like it
